Along the Tokaido Through Ukiyo-e: Scenes of Suruga

Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art
Until May 31
Central Shizuoka Prefecture, a large area of which was known as Suruga Province during the Edo period, is home to a number of famous places, including historical sites and majestic landscapes like Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay. This exhibition presents a number of ukiyo-e prints by Utagawa Hiroshige, mainly from his various Tokaido series, that depict the landscapes between Numazu and Shimada in old Suruga. We hope you will enjoy seeing the landscapes of Suruga and how people lived back in those times.
