Ami Yoshida
Miyagi Prefecture native Aimi Yoshida has been consistently creating sculptures of the human body since the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. She currently maintains a studio in her hometown of Shiogama City, where she continues to work daily to explore new forms of expression of the human figure.
In this exhibition, Yoshida departs from his recent pursuit of the ideal expression of the human body and focuses on the beauty of each model in his portrait sculptures.
Yoshida's sculptures extract beauty from a living person that cannot be conveyed by simply capturing it in a photograph and expressing it in a single form. A new drawing work will also be exhibited.
