GALLERY ETHER is thrilled to announce “CHIMERA”, a distinct new solo-exhibition by University of Tokyo alumnus and Tokyo-based Italian artist, Andrea Samory, to be held March 1st through March 22nd, 2025.
Tokyo-based, Italian visual artist Andrea Samory presents "CHIMERA", a distinct new solo-exhibition delving into the creation of an absurd new nature, which is a reflection on contemporary fears and hopes for a Post-Human and Trans-Human future. The term chimera, coming from the mythological creature of the same name, has over time come to describe any kind of amalgamated hybrid made up from wildly disparate parts; and just as the imaginary often borrows heavily both from contemporary lore and ancient mythology - so do the physical manifestations of both our chronically online way of life and our most animalistic social instincts. Samory’s “CHIMERA” delves into this new mythology to manifest a stunning collection of these fantastic hybrid environments, sculptural works, and digital animations, giving us a small glimpse into strange new potential futures.
