The Yatsugatake Museum of Art will be holding a special exhibition, " Arata Nishi, recent works and retrospective :We can’t see as much as we should ― Unleash Love!" from Saturday, December 13, 2025, to Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Nishi Arata is a painter born in Yokohama in 1983. After graduating from the Department of Oil Painting at Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts in 2008, he returned to Hara Village, Nagano Prefecture, where he continues to paint. Aiming to be a "drummer who paints," Nishi has been active in both painting and music since his university days, performing live shows around the country as the founding drummer for the Hara Village-based band OGRE YOU ASSHOLE, and even designing album covers. Currently, he focuses on the theme of "love," the fundamental energy that flows throughout the universe, and expresses in his paintings the "warm power that flows equally in all encounters and destinies." The artist drips paint, overlaying it with faded brushstrokes, sometimes spraying on colored spray paint, or pasting on paper or fallen leaves to create collages. Each painting is an improvised universe, utilizing every color and line. Sparkling colors and warm energy collide freely and dramatically.

This exhibition will showcase a wide range of works, from early figurative works that capture the band's musicality, to their current abstract paintings, which exude a certain air of humor amid their energetic brushstrokes. A solo live performance will also be held. Enjoy the endless dynamism of Nishi Shinta's limitless universe of pictorial and musical expression.
