This time, the "Shimoyama Art Forest Power Plant Museum" in Nyuzen Town is holding an exhibition titled "Art Clip 2024," introducing local artists alongside the museum's collection.
The Power Plant Museum was opened in 1995 as a rare national museum that renovated a Taisho-era hydroelectric power plant that was slated for demolition. The exhibition space, where the turbines and water pipes for power generation are left intact, exudes a unique atmosphere that stimulates artistic creativity, attracting the attention of many artists. Since its opening, the museum has primarily held exhibitions featuring three-dimensional sculptors by contemporary artists. The "Hatsubi Exhibition" series looks back on past exhibitions featuring works from the museum's collection, from the 2020 fiscal year onwards. This exhibition introduces artists with styles that have been rarely showcased at the museum and young artists expected to make future contributions.
Yurie Kawagoe, born in Toyama Prefecture in 1987, completed her master's degree at the Graduate School of Art and Culture Studies at the University of Toyama in 2013. During her studies, she energetically continued to exhibit her works and gradually established a unique production style of "bringing various emotions and weaknesses lurking in the human heart to life in the form of imaginary insects." The strange insects created as both two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional sculptures will unsettle viewers' minds and evoke various emotions.
This time, utilizing the second floor of the museum, numerous vividly colorful yet somewhat eerie sculptures and drawings will be exhibited. Explore the unique space Yurie Park, created by the imaginary insects. Enjoy approximately 15 items from the museum's collection exhibited on the first floor as well.
