Artists

Mayu Kunihisa, Eeko Sonobe, Joan Nishi, Tsutomu Murakami
Taro Okamoto believes art is a "laboratory of freedom" accessible to everyone, serving as a creative outlet for both children and adults who may have lost their sense of freedom. This summer exhibition features works by four Taro Okamoto Award winners: Mayu Kunihisa, known for expansive, dance-like drawings; Eeko Sonobe, who uses a physically challenging brush technique; Joan Nishi, who carves Buddhas from wood, manga, and everyday items; and Tsutomu Murakami, known for using hemp and dry lacquer techniques to depict human forms and stories. The exhibition includes live demonstrations, artist talks, and workshops aimed at making art accessible and enjoyable for both children and adults.
