Artists of Fukushima 2024

Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished
Fukushima Prefecture, known for its picturesque landscapes, has nurtured numerous artists under its rich cultural soil. Since its opening on July 22, 1984, the Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art has positioned the retrospective and commendation of artists with ties to Fukushima Prefecture as one of its important missions, striving to introduce them on various occasions. Particularly notable is the series project "Artists of Fukushima," which was held three times in 1987, 1989, and 1991, showcasing contemporary artists from various genres, totaling 117 individuals.

The exhibition "Artists of Fukushima 2024," held as part of the museum's 40th-anniversary celebration, continues the spirit of this series. It aims to introduce 40 artists who have been actively engaged in the fields of Japanese painting, Western painting, printmaking, sculpture, and crafts since the 1990s to the present day. This exhibition not only provides a valuable opportunity for the works of local artists who are active both within and outside the prefecture to be displayed together but also aims to offer a new encouragement to the younger generation who will shape the future.
