Arts Maebashi is an exhibition that began in 2017, organized by a committee of art professionals with connections to Maebashi. The second edition in 2020 had to be cut short due to the spread of the COVID-19 but participating artists, along with those who were engaged in residency programs at Arts Maebashi, displayed part of their artworks behind the museum's glass windows and raised the rolled screens that were covering them.
Taking over the baton from the previous exhibition, this edition is being held amidst unprecedented experiences, as society undergoes significant changes. Through the gathering of 59 pairs of artists who continue their activities amid these transformations, a "soft outline" capable of adapting flexibly under any circumstances will emerge. In addition to exhibitions both inside and outside of Arts Maebashi, there will be collaborative exhibitions organized by local galleries and private art museums, as well as support activities for schools and welfare facilities, creating opportunities to engage with various forms of "soft baton passing."
