Ayako Kita
FUMA Contemporary Tokyo is pleased to present an exhibition by Ayako Kita.
Kita completed her Master’s degree at Tama Art University in 2006 and began her career as an artist in 2007, focusing primarily on solo exhibitions. She has presented her works at major institutions such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, the National Art Center Tokyo, Kiki Museum in Beijing, and TX Huaihai in Shanghai, and has participated in numerous art fairs both in Japan and abroad.
Since her student years, Kita has been creating works that combine woodcarving with transparent epoxy resin cast in molds. In recent years, she has further developed this practice by carving the transparent sections from acrylic resin. Through the fusion of wood and transparent resin—materials of distinctly different characteristics—she explores new possibilities of expression that visualize the ambiguity and uncertainty inherent in human existence.
