Fuji Gallery Shinjuku is pleased to present "Ephemeral Landscapes", a solo exhibition by Ayumi Aoki, running from September 12 (Fri) to October 19 (Sun), 2025, at our space located on the B1 floor of Hilton Tokyo, Nishi-Shinjuku.
Born in 1982, Aoki is a painter who reconstructs fleeting fragments of images and scenes that arise in her mind into landscapes of beauty and transience. Layering self-made collage materials with flowing, varied brushstrokes, she creates imaginary sceneries imbued with transparency, capturing moments suspended during constant transformation. As the title "Ephemeral Landscapes" suggests, this exhibition features works that poetically depict seasonal moments—scenes so subtle and delicate that they might go unnoticed unless viewed with slow, deliberate attention.
A hallmark of Aoki’s work, as seen in her signature Memory of the Waterside series, is the pristine clarity of her pictorial space. In this exhibition, she extends her exploration beyond her characteristically ephemeral beauty to embrace new expressions that also hold depth, sediment, and stillness within.
