Basement #01 Gokou no Surikire

The Museum of Kyoto
Finished

Artists

Ryosuke Imamura, Taro Komiya
Gokou no Surikire. This phrase, which also appears in the well-known rakugo story “Jugemu," refers to the almost eternal time that a heavenly maiden's robe of feathers descends to the lower world and strokes the surface of a huge rock until the rock is worn away.

Both exhibiting artists' work is created by modestly manipulating daily objects. Work created in this way is firmly connected to our familiar everyday landscapes, while at the same time opening up landscapes with a temporal and spatial scale that is different from that of the here and now.
