Misuzu Kaneko
Misuzu Kaneko is a children's song poet known for such works as "The Big Fishery," "Me, a Little Bird, a Bell," and "Pile of Snow.”

This year marks the 120th anniversary of her birth. It is also exactly 100 years since the first piece she contributed was simultaneously published in four magazines: "Dowa," "Fujin Club," "Fujin Gaho," and "Kin no Hoshi."

Despite being praised as a "giant star among young children's song poets," Misuzu Kaneko's existence was long forgotten when she passed away at the young age of 26. However, the thoughts of those who were fascinated by Misuzu's nursery rhymes were unbrokenly linked, and over time, this connection culminated in the discovery of three posthumous manuscript notebooks by Setsuo Yazaki and the publication of "The Complete Works of Misuzu Kaneko."

Misuzu's works, sung in the form of children's songs in a language that everyone can understand, still shine brightly and continue to fascinate us today, even 100 years after the Taisho Era in which she lived.

This exhibition will introduce the fascinating world of Misuzu's passion for children's songs through her manuscript notebooks and other materials from the time, as well as original drawings of children's songs and picture books in Misuzu's handwriting.
