Captivating Form, Timeless Beauty: Masterpieces from the Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka

Kyushu National Museum
Finished
Since ancient times, Chinese and Korean ceramics and porcelain that crossed the sea to Japan have been treated with great care as valuable Chinese objects.

These oriental ceramics have deeply penetrated into our daily lives as utensils and furnishings for tea ceremonies and room rituals in Japan, and as vessels used in the tea ceremony and dining. In the modern era, the study of Oriental ceramics began in earnest, and along with its progress, numerous collections were created as a result of enthusiastic collecting. It is no exaggeration to say that oriental ceramics, which have been carefully inherited and cherished by the Japanese people throughout the ages, are the very essence of Japanese culture.

This exhibition introduces 88 masterpieces selected from the collection of the internationally acclaimed Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka, including 2 National Treasures and 12 Important Cultural Properties.
