This large group of 58 Gosho dolls, including seven gods of good fortune, children, and crowned rabbits, was commissioned by Takako Iwasaki, wife of Koyata Iwasaki (Mitsubishi's fourth president, 1879-1945) to celebrate his 60th birthday, who was born in the year of the rabbit. The dolls, including their costumes, personal belongings, and vehicles, were all elaborately carved and painted in wood. The dolls, which are said to have been made in the likenesses of Koyata and his wife, are centered around seven gods of good fortune, including Hotei and Benten, who pull a tai-guruma, play musical instruments, and pound rice cakes, all with smiles on their faces as they celebrate the occasion.

Along with the festive dolls, the exhibition also features a selection of works that are full of auspiciousness, from Edo paintings by Buson, Taiga, Hoitsu, and others, to modern Japanese paintings by Taikan and others, as well as banquet vessels suitable for celebrating the New Year. The first New Year's celebration at Seikado @ Marunouchi will be celebrated with a procession of Gosho ningyo dolls and paintings and artifacts that are full of festive cheer.
