The written word, which we use in various aspects of our daily lives, has developed in a diverse range of ways not only as a means of communication, but also as a mode of artistic
expression. This exhibition showcases a variety of works from the museum collection including calligraphy, paintings, ceramics, and installations from the perspective of the presence of text and the written word in works of contemporary art. Focusing on the meaning created by text in works of art and the way they are manifested through the acts of writing (drawing) and reading, this exhibition seeks to explore the appeal and depth of ar t ist ic expression that makes use of the written word.
