The Gifts - From the Ando Fund Collection
The Ando Fund Collection is a group of work collected by the Ando Fund, which was established with a generous donation from local businessman Shoji Ando for the promotion of art in Gifu Prefecture. The Museum of Fine Arts, Gifu began collecting artwork through this fund in 1988.

The museum, which opened in 2002, acquired Rudy Autio "Time Piece" (1994) in 2006 as the first work in the Ando Fund collection. Since then, the museum has collected numerous works through this fund.

In memory of Shoji Ando, who passed away in 2021, this exhibition presents a selection of work from the Ando Fund Collection in two phases.

Collection Highlights
In addition to one-of-a-kind works by individual artists, the museum also focuses on practical ceramics intended for daily use and industrial ceramics designed for mass production. This exhibition focuses on the cup, one of the most basic forms of pottery.
By inserting a finger into a lump of clay and pushing it open, a space is created to hold an object. Perhaps because it is such a simple form, cups often express the individuality and philosophy of their makers, as well as the various qualities of pottery.

Exhibition of Works from the New Collection - 2021 Collection
This exhibition introduces 8 purchased and 24 donated works acquired by the museum in the 2021 fiscal year in two phases. Of these, 18 works from the newly acquired collection by Hajime Kato will be featured along with work from the museum's previous collection.
