Artists

Hokusai Katsushika
This exhibition offers the opportunity to see pieces from the Nagata Seiji Hokusai Collection, which has never left the prefecture and was donated by Hokusai scholar Nakata Seiji ( 1951–2018 ). On display will be pieces from the Katsushika Hokusai Period and Taito Period ( counted from 46 to 60 years of age ). Over 500 hanpon ( woodblock printed books ) with illustrations by Hokusai during the Taito Period are on display, including Yomihon ( literally “books for reading” ), which were long-format novels and E-dehon, drawing manuals which are block printed books providing models for people wanting to learn to draw and paint . Don’t miss the chance to see Hanpon World ( Book World ), the highlight of the collection by Hokusai, the foremost master in these two categories.
