The Tottori Prefectural Museum of Art opened in March 2025 with the vision of becoming "a museum that creates the future." As a place to nurture new values and cultivate culture together, the museum is also committed to presenting the art of our own time.

As part of this mission, this exhibition brings together seven artists and collectives from Japan and abroad whose works transcend cultural and social divides and build bridges across different fields. Today, in the aftermath of the pandemic, we live in a world where instability and fragility have become increasingly evident due to disasters, wars, and global economic turmoil. Amidst these turbulent changes, what kind of vision can art offer? Under the theme of "connexions," meaning "connection" and "relationship," this exhibition is conceived as an attempt to imagine the future of art and society. It presents practices that expand art into an experiential space by incorporating elements of music, theatre, and performance, as well as initiatives by artists with diverse cultural backgrounds who seek pathways to coexistence across borders.

Their practices go beyond material objects to encompass multifaceted performativity-including encounters with people, participatory processes, bodily actions, and forms of collaboration- that generate new relationships and events. These activities broaden the scope of art and point to possibilities beyond conventional boundaries, and, as the title "connexions" suggests, they cross different cultures and social contexts to create new relationships. Throughout the exhibition period, performances, workshops, and participatory projects will also be presented.
We hope this exhibition will inspire creativity among people and open possibilities for connecting the community, the museum, and the future.
