Creative 2.5 is a group exhibition of 14 third-year students of the Tokyo College of Design's Creative Art Department. The Creative Art Department is a small group where students learn many skills from two-dimensional to three-dimensional art, and this exhibition was planned and managed under the initiative of the students as part of the seminar class.
In the Creative Art Department, students are not limited to one medium but can learn two-dimensional painting, three-dimensional painting, and digital art all at once, allowing them to freely choose the media that match their worldview and expression. In two-dimensional painting, students can work with acrylic, oil, collage, graffiti, etc., while in three-dimensional art, they learn not only sculptural expression but also figures and other forms of expression that once belonged to subcultures and anime culture, pursuing a more contemporary and broader range of expression that is not bound by existing art frameworks.
The "2.5" in the title is a fusion of the two-dimensional plane and the three-dimensional solid, meaning that one is still in the process of development, and is in a state of being both hybrid and incomplete.
