Dinosaurs, which dominated the earth long before the birth of mankind, came to the public's attention through reconstructions following the excavation of fossils in the 19th century. Since then, our fascination with these ancient creatures has led to the creation of lost worlds through the imaginative use of fossils and other traces, and through the medium of painting.

While fossils have played a leading role in conventional dinosaur exhibitions, this exhibition takes visitors into the romantic world of "paleoart" (paleontological art), which is imbued with an unlimited yearning for the ancient past. The exhibition features approximately 150 works of art from around the world. From phantom beasts before the discovery of dinosaurs to bizarre reconstructions from the 19th century, dynamic works from the 20th century, subcultures, and paleoart based on recent research, the works cover the entire history of images of ancient creatures.
