Drawing Addict

Yonago City Museum of Art
Finished
The French term "dessin," meaning line drawing representing object forms, was translated as "sobyo" in Meiji-era Japan. "Drawing" has become the prevalent English term since the post-war period, but its scope is broad, covering conceptual planning, partial studies, finished sketches, daily life observations, imaginative drawings, and notes.

While sketching is seldom featured prominently in exhibitions, it is considered a direct representation of an artist's thoughts and inner world. This exhibition will highlight various aspects of sketching, showcasing artists' vivid traces on paper and inviting viewers into the world of sketching.
