Artists

Claude Monet, Marie Laurencin, Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse, Albert Marquet, Odilon Redon et al.
From the Western painting collection of the Kasama Nichido Museum in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, we present a selection of 96 carefully chosen works by artists such as Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Redon, Matisse, Picasso, Chagall, and others.

From the 19th to the 20th century, the art world centered around France saw the emergence of successive new artistic trends. Impressionist painters depicted the changing nature and modern urban life illuminated by light in vibrant colors, profoundly influencing later art movements such as Post-Impressionism and Fauvism.

By the 1920s, Paris became a gathering place for artists from diverse countries who pursued individual expressions without adhering to specific styles or schools, leading to the emergence of the École de Paris (School of Paris).

This exhibition delves into the allure of French modern painting from Impressionism to the École de Paris, featuring a diverse range of works including oil paintings, pastels, watercolors, and prints.
