It is said that picture books for children first appeared in the latter half of the 18th century, and by the 19th century, full-fledged picture books were being produced, including "pop-up" picture books. Today, picture books with pop-up mechanisms are attracting not only children but also adults due to the artistic quality of their mechanisms.

This exhibition will feature various types of picture book contraptions, mainly by contemporary artists. Please come to the museum and experience the world of picture books that draw readers into the story with their wonderful tricks and illustrations.
