Falling in Love the Beautyー Masterpieces of Baikoan Collection

Sano Art Museum
Finished
Bijinga (portraits of beautiful women) developed as a unique field of Japanese painting. Originating from early modern style paintings, they became widely popular in the Edo period (1603-1867) through ukiyoe woodblock prints and remained popular from the end of the Meiji period (1868-1912) to the Showa period (1926-1989). This exhibition introduces approximately 70 paintings of beautiful women from the Baikoan collection, depicting the scenes of the four seasons.
