Artists

Félix Vallotton, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
Felix Vallotton (1865-1925), a Navier School artist active in Paris at the end of the 19th century, gained fame for his innovative woodcuts in all black. His work, with its unique perspectives, diverse expressions, and an outstanding sense of design, continues to fascinate like an unsolvable mystery. Among his work, the woodblock prints are the most quintessential.

The Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum boasts one of the world's largest collections of Vallotton prints. In addition to the highly rare series "Intimite," "Musical Instruments," "World's Fair," and "This is War!" and a collection of approximately 180 other prints will be on display for the first time. Focusing on a world created entirely in black and white, the exhibition will explore the fascination of Vallotton's work, which has yet to be fully captured. In addition, a special exhibition on Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec commemorates the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Musee Toulouse-Lautrec Toulouse, with which the museum has had a sister museum affiliation since 2009.
