Craftsman Goro Kinoshita (1945-) was captivated by the mountains of Shinshu. Since establishing his studio in Komagane City in 1968, he has been creating works while facing the great nature in front of him. Using materials such as copper, aluminum, and gold leaf, he forms reliefs with traditional carving and forging techniques, applies the characteristic rust of metals, and expresses the world of myriad phenomena. His theme is always the mother forest, which firmly roots itself in the earth and robustly gives birth to life. Within bold compositions, delicate depictions of deep forests, tree roots, wind, and light emerge as "forms," projecting the ever-changing landscapes of the beautiful and sometimes harsh natural world onto the canvas.
This exhibition will showcase approximately 60 works, including Kinoshita's first-selected works in the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition (Nitten) and pieces exhibited in the Nitten and Japan Contemporary Craft Art Exhibition, as well as a panoramic masterpiece spanning about 10 meters.
