Once upon a time, this place, with views of the Southern Alps to the west and Mt. Fuji to the south, was called Kiyoharu. The Kiyoharu Art Colony has revived the name of this place, which is no longer marked on maps, as a place for artists to create and interact with each other.

Kiyoharu Art Colony is not only famous for its artwork, but also its architecture by famous architects such as Gustave Eiffel, Yoshio Taniguchi, Tadao Ando, and Terunobu Fujimori, its 100-year-old cherry trees in spring, wisteria in early summer, fresh greenery in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and white-tinted mountains in winter.
