Hideharu Fukasaku "Insights from Neuro-Ophthalmology into Painting - Munch"

Hideharu Fukasaku Gallery Yokohama
Finished
Hideharu Fukasaku is an ophthalmic surgeon who is also an artist, displaying a unique world through a variety of artistic expressions. This exhibition will focus on Fukasaku's book "Neuro-ocular Art Theory." In this book, Fukasaku examines the prescriptions of artists to explain the changes in their works before and after eye disease. Unlike ordinary art criticism, Fukasaku presents a unique artistic theory from a medical perspective in this book.

During this exploration, the focus will shift to Edvard Munch, renowned for the masterpiece "The Scream." The alterations in Munch's works, influenced by the death of a family member, mental illness, women's issues, and visual impairment due to an eye disease, will be deciphered.
