Hiroshi Nagai
This exhibition celebrates the publication of Hiroshi Nagai's art book " The Journey Begins." New unique and editioned works will be exhibited and sold.

Artist Hiroshi Nagai has been active since 1976, and since the 1980s, his work has graced a variety of scenes including advertisements, posters, records, CDs, and fashion. He has continued to draw in a consistent style, choosing motifs such as swimming pools, buildings, and night scenes, and his visuals, which everyone has seen before, have a nostalgic feel, yet have evolved over the years.

The images of Hiroshi Nagai's work, which spread through music and the Internet, have become the original landscapes of people around the world as "ideal landscapes," inspiring people not only in Japan but also in the United States, China, Korea, and Southeast Asia, transcending generations and borders and influencing AOR, city pop, and Future Funk.

The 1970s, when Hiroshi Nagai's activities began, also coincided with the beginning of the illustration boom, when a rich variety of expression blossomed in commercial design, advertising, and editorial work, closely tied to popular culture. The work of these illustrators also raises questions about the inseparable relationship and fusion between illustration and art, which can be said to be unique to Japan.

This exhibition will feature new unique works and editions to commemorate the publication of “The Journey Begins," a collection of works selected by Hiroshi Nagai himself, from his early to recent years.
