Artists

Hiroshi Nakamura
Gallery 58 is pleased to present an exhibition of painter Hiroshi Nakamura, featuring war-themed paintings and drawings. In 1945, Hiroshi Nakamura faced the end of the war in Hamamatsu, which had suffered tremendous damage due to its concentration of bases and munitions factories. Nakamura, who was 12 years old at the time, was exposed to the daily terror of repeated bombings, and he says that he watched the city go up in red flames. Nakamura produced several documentary paintings in the 1950s but never painted his own war experiences. For this exhibition, Nakamura will present paintings and drawings of his memories and experiences at the war's end.
