Artists

Hisae Imai
Hisae Imai, who made her debut in the 1950s, gained attention for her avant-garde images, constructing a literary world represented by "Ofelia and After". After being blinded in a car accident, she shifted to producing works with horses as her subjects, and gradually her early works became known only to those in the know.

This exhibition is a traveling exhibition of the exhibition held at The Third Gallery Aya in April last year, introducing Imai's representative early works from her first solo exhibition "Daydream" in 1956 to "Energy" that started in 1964.

The Third Gallery Aya has introduced Eiko Yamazawa, one of the pioneering female photographers in Japan, and Yoshiko Okagami, a contemporary of Imai and known for her photo collage work.
