Ingrid Lønningdal’s artistic practice, which spans a wide range of materials including painting, textiles, and sculpture, seeks to offer insights into the spaces we inhabit. Using architecture as a point of departure, her process often begins with observation, sketching, and photography.
The titles of her works in the Edges series reference early 20th-century Berlin housing estates and the German architect Bruno Taut (1880–1938). The colored planes on the hessian fabric not only refer to specific estates—such as Gartenstadt Falkenberg, Hufeisensiedlung Britz, and Waldsiedlung Zehlendorf—but also play a constructive role in preventing the fabric from unraveling.The colour planes and rips of the hessian fabric denote particular estates on her works. She has chosen colours from specific building facades, and used the same kind of mineral paints.
Lønningdal is also engaged in environmental art. She worked on a large-scale project of murals and sculptures at Stavanger University Hospital in Norway over a period of five years, which was completed in the summer of 2024. In this project, she created 1,200 square meters of wall paintings, as well as five large concrete sculptures installed within the building.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
