Artists

Isao Takahata
Isao Takahata (1935-2018) was a leading figure in Japanese animation from the 1960s. He directed works such as "Heidi, Girl of the Alps," "Grave of the Fireflies," and "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya." He continuously challenged previously considered impossible subject matters and introduced new forms of expression, influencing creators both domestically and internationally.

This exhibition showcases over 1,300 pieces of artwork and materials, including storyboards, layouts, keyframes, and background art, created by staff who supported Takahata's works from the early days. It also provides insights into the secrets of the multifaceted world of his works, with a focus on Takahata's "directorial technique" despite not drawing the art himself, featuring numerous unpublished materials.

*This exhibition requires reservations with designated dates and times. Please check the official website for details.
