Known Unknown
"Known Unknown," a photography book by Iwauko Murakami, winner of the 23rd Miki Jun Award, will be published by Fugensha. A solo exhibition will be held at Communication Gallery Fugensha from October 4 to October 27, 2024. Murakami explores themes of memory and identity. The exhibition features about 30 portraits from the "Known Unknown" series, capturing women in their natural environments with faces often obscured. The project reflects Murakami’s personal experience following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. The book includes a contribution from Junko Takase, 2022 Akutagawa Prize-winner, and the exhibition will feature a gallery talk with sculptor Doka Odawara.
