In 2019, the museum hosted an exhibition centered on Risaburo Kimura, featuring 15 oil paintings generously provided by Kimura's family. A notable highlight from this collection is "Metropolis," a rare large-scale work depicting a bustling cityscape, which will be showcased in the Grand Gallery of the museum. The exhibition will also present other works by Kimura, including never-before-seen pieces and early watercolors. Additionally, the showcase sheds light on related artists such as Shusaku Arakawa, Ansai Uchima, and Akiko Shirai, illustrating the global engagement of Japanese artists, particularly in New York. This exhibition aims to enhance appreciation for the contributions of Japanese artists working in New York.
