Jay Chung, Q Takeki Maeda
Galerie Tenko Presents warmly invites you to the second intervention of the newly opened space, by Jay Chung and Q Takeki Maeda, on the 31st May 2025.
Hanshan (Cold Mountain) and Shide (Foundling), eccentric poets and hermits from the Tang Dynasty, have long occupied the margins of Chinese literary and visual culture. They are repeatedly depicted as wild, anti-authoritarian figures with some Zen irony and symbols of sacred deviance that continue to drift through time.
Chung & Maeda offer a poetic intervention into this recurring subject, one shaped by cycles of forgetting and re-enactment. Their works invite further misreadings and repetitions, extending the legacy of these figures into the field of contemporary art practice.
