Jun Takahashi
Jun Takahashi was born in Gunma in 1969. He is the designer for UNDERCOVER, and began creating self-taught oil paintings in 2013. After 10 years of production, he held his first solo art exhibition in 2023 in Tokyo, which was followed up by another in Hong Kong in 2024. This exhibition, his third solo show, will contain about 15 pieces of new painting work.

Takahashi, who has created a solidly individual world as a designer, was drawn to oil painting as a mode of expression that he could produce by himself, and made the practice of painting part of his life. From his art – more personal and free than his design work – one can see a strong sense of the aesthetic that he has pursued. Paintings he exhibited around 18 months ago caught attention as “portraits without eyes”, and were considered pieces that symbolized his artistic flair. The new work in this exhibition demonstrates a new horizon of expression that he has stepped into, beyond his previous approach. It offers a glimpse into the universe of Takahashi’s inner world, forging a connection with his creative work as a designer.
In his work, dualities such as beauty and imperfection, charm and the uncanny, chaos and harmony, combine in a way that is both strong and vulnerable at the same time, resonating deeply with the sensitivity and imagination of the viewers.
We are excited to offer you the opportunity to view his work.
