Since the 1990s, Katsuya Kamo has worked as a hair designer for the collections of top fashion houses such as Chanel, Fendi, and Junya Watanabe. The concept of hair design has been sublimated from "a hairstyle born from a beauty salon" to "a place where imagination is expressed", and has been highly evaluated as a unique existence.
On the other hand, in recent years, based on what he has cultivated on the runway, he has expanded the scope of his activities to include not only hair design, but also space design, art direction, and his own work production.
This exhibition introduces the creative activities of Kamo, who sadly passed away in 2020, over the past 20 years. About 400 pieces in total, including about 200 headpieces that were used in domestic and international collections based on the contents that Kamo himself planned and conceived during his lifetime, as well as box-shaped art pieces that he created during his private time. In addition, the atelier where many works were born will be reproduced, with a polaroid book that gives a glimpse of the production tools and creative process that he used.
