Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Marie Laurencin, Raoul Dufy et al.
During the 19th and 20th centuries, new artistic trends emerged one after another in the art world, especially in France. In the 1920s, artists from various countries gathered in Paris, and those who pursued individual expression without being bound by any particular style or school of painting became known as the Ecole de Paris (Paris School).
This exhibition introduces the appeal of modern French painting through a selection of works from the collection of Western paintings at the Kasama Nichido Art Museum in Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, ranging from Impressionist paintings by Monet and Renoir to paintings from the Ecole de Paris.
