Kasama-yaki 250th Anniversary Exhibition II

Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum
Finished
This exhibition, the second installment of the "Wish You Were Here" exhibition held in 2008, features the works of 74 artists based in Kasama (Ibaraki) and Mashiko (Tochigi).

As the history of Kasama pottery approaches 250 years, Kasama and Mashiko, which were recognized as a Japanese Heritage Site in 2020 as "Kasamashiko," are attracting attention as pottery production centers that allow a variety of individuality, from traditional to new styles of pottery. However, most of the pottery produced by individual artists is produced in small quantities and sold out as soon as it is displayed at private exhibitions or pottery fairs so the works rarely remain in the hands of the artists and are not easily introduced at museums. This exhibition focuses on such individual ceramic artists and examines the "now" of both regions.
