Kazuki Umezawa
Since around 2008, when Twitter and Nico Nico Douga became widely recognized, Kazuki Umezawa has been collecting a large number of character images from the Internet, collaging and reconstructing fragments of these images, and adding paint to them to create his works. Since the early days of his career, he has been attracting attention in the art scene by connecting character paintings to the context of contemporary art. Umezawa's works, which are constructed with tremendous density and a vast amount of images of anime and game characters, seem to express the values and ideas of our time, when the boundary between the real and virtual worlds has become blurred and has not only been shown in solo exhibitions but have also been selected for special exhibitions at museums, generating much critical acclaim.

This exhibition, titled "Beyond the Windows," presents Umezawa's latest work expressed using characters from anime and Internet games that exist beyond the display. Umezawa has been deeply connected with characters since the 2000s and has been considering the expression of characters in contemporary art.

In conjunction with this exhibition, Umezawa will release his latest collaboration T-shirt with Chloma, a fashion brand by designers Junya Suzuno and Reiko Sakuma, with whom Umezawa has been collaborating since 2010. This NADiff limited edition T-shirt was created especially for this exhibition and features the works exhibited in this exhibition.
