The Sato Sakura Museum of Art was opened as a museum that specializes in providing the opportunity to view modern Nihonga. Our museum's collection centers on works from Nihonga artists born beginning in the Showa era (1926-1989). Works in our museum's possession are shown to the public in a "Collection Exhibition" format, with a new theme for each exhibition. Our collection currently consists of over 700 works. Another of the distinctive features of our collection is that it is made up in large part of large-scale works that measure over size 50 (1167×909／803／727mm). It is our hope that our museum, specializing in modern Nihonga, can act as a space in which even more people can experience the wonders of Nihonga, while also supporting the creative efforts of Nihonga artists.
