Artists

Keisuke Serizawa
Keisuke Serizawa, inspired to be an artist from a young age, transitioned from designer to dyer in the thirties after encountering Soetsu Yanagi and Okinawan Bingata. Debuting at 34 in 1929, Serizawa focused on stencil dyeing, creating a rich body of work that gained international acclaim and integrated beauty into daily life. Over 50 years were dedicated to this craft until the passing in 1984. This year marks the 40th anniversary of that loss, celebrated with 100 representative works from a remarkable career.
