This exhibition is rooted in self-reference; a conversation that situates Ken Kagami’s work about art history as seen through the lens of comedy. "Oil on Canvas", a large-scale painting executed in oil on canvas, mirrors in the exhibition space entryway; Kagami’s "Mondrian" pictures the JR Yamanote line stations which leads to Otsuka; Brancusi, Picasso, and Da Vinci are debased by Kagami's reoccurring cast of Charlie Brown and Snoopy and, finally, contemporary masters Judd, Rauschenberg, and Suga are reduced to captions - all at the service of provoking a laugh. Concrete Comedy; or, maybe, Modern Art.
