Kenichi Shikata, an artist who engages in diverse creative expressions like sculpture, installations, and photography, has developed geometric and minimalistic forms observed in intricately calculated metal sculptures. The Gravity series developed over the past three years, exhibit complex transformations responding to their surroundings. Shikata's solo exhibition showcases these sculptures along with experimental pieces using color and light. Influenced by the pandemic, the theme revolves around "relying on the Earth," depicting shapes that gravity brings forth in changing circumstances. These sculptures adapt to their environment through minimal incisions and gravity. Additionally, the exhibition introduces the artist's first foray into using color and light to interpret space. The artworks interact with their surroundings, forming a cycle where the environment shapes the art and the art shapes the space, driving continuous renewal.
