Kikuji Kawada
The "Los Caprichos" series was initiated by Kawada, influenced by Goya's etching collection "Los Caprichos," starting in 1972 with a serialization of the same title in "Camera Mainichi" magazine. Kawada sporadically continued to publish works in photo magazines thereafter. Although the series was not compiled into a photo book, since starting his Instagram account in 2017, Kawada has been presenting works under the title "Los Caprichos" again, with publications such as "Los Caprichos - Instagram 2017" (2018), "Los Caprichos: Perspectives" (2022), and this latest work, "Los Caprichos: Tomorrow's Demon."

"Los Caprichos: Tomorrow's Demon" primarily focuses on snapshots of the city, clouds, and the moon, which Kawada often posts on Instagram. As Kawada has mentioned, he is always influenced by the social atmosphere, reflecting the sense of stagnation prevailing in society due to events such as the Great East Japan Earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic in his works. In this latest series, the ever-changing clouds and the moon shining in the darkness where reason sleeps project the current society. Moreover, the scenes from train windows, which have left a strong impression in various previous works, are presented with even more persistence, urging viewers to contemplate. How Kawada's highly personal perspective captures time and the world, viewing the logic of the times within his senses, and how it synchronizes with the viewer's world, will be explored in this exhibition, where approximately 40 archival pigment prints will be displayed.
