Ichizo Kobayashi's collection comprises approximately 5,500 items, including paintings, ancient brushes, ceramics, lacquerware, and various other types. Kobayashi incorporated this diverse collection primarily into his hobbies such as tea ceremonies and daily life, enriching his everyday existence. The items have various origins, including those spotted in auction catalogs, brought by familiar antique dealers, received as gifts from family, friends, and acquaintances, or unexpectedly acquired through different opportunities. They all became part of Kobayashi's collection due to various reasons, marking fateful encounters with him.

This exhibition shares memorable anecdotes and stories related to Kobayashi's collection. Discover why these items found their way into Kobayashi's possession and the untold stories they carry about their connection with Kobayashi.
