Koji Yamaguchi
This first exhibition of 2024 at OIL by Bijutsutecho will feature the solo exhibition of Koji Yamaguchi. Influenced by the flexible perspective of skateboarding, which sees the city as a playground, Yamaguchi transforms everyday landscapes and familiar objects using various techniques such as painting, drawing, and collage. After three years of creative activities in New York from 2015, he is currently based in Kawasaki.

In November 2023, Yamaguchi released his first art book, "Days," published by Bijutsu Shuppan, and held a solo exhibition titled "River," depicting the city from the perspective of rivers flowing through Kawasaki and Kyoto, at Tsutaya Books in Kyoto.

This exhibition serves as a Tokyo commemorative exhibition following the Kyoto release. The showcase includes recent and new landscape paintings depicting everyday locations, which serve as the guiding principles for Yamaguchi's work.

Additionally, 35 pieces from the "Quick Painting" series, where he sets up an easel in the city and completes an oil painting in 30 minutes, will be displayed. This series is a part of the special limited edition accompanying the art book "Days"(*), providing a unique and valuable opportunity to view the entire collection.

*The sale of the special limited edition, which includes both artwork and the art book, has ended. Only the regular edition of the art book will be available for purchase at the venue.
