Paichu gallery is delighted to present 'London Window,' an international group exhibition organised by Art Embassy Network(ArtEN) and ArtSticker. London city, much like Tokyo, is a city shaped by a long history of cultural exchange. Through the movement of creative endeavour, these metropolises have grown into layered environments where the past and present coexist. Artists have always played a vital role in this setting, offering intimate visions and stories that document the specific mood of their time.
London Window presents a collection of works by five contemporary artists based in the United Kingdom. This exhibition explores the shared experience of living in a metropolis that is constantly making history, a place of visual intensity and diverse points of view. Originally from Portugal, Scotland, Austria, Italy, and beyond, these artists are united by their observational practice. Each artwork functions as a literal and metaphorical "window" into a specific moment of contemporary life. Thomas Cameron, with his cinematic gaze, captures the melancholic light of the everyday, reflecting the quiet moments found amidst the urban history. Joana Galego looks inward to the architecture of memory and intimacy, capturing the warm, psychological spaces we construct to connect with others. Afonso Rocha explores the vibrant theatre of human behaviour. His work is a dynamic study of social interaction, chronicling the energy of diverse figures navigating life side-by-side. Jane Mechner offers a sharp, curated view, isolating the universal symbols and "props" of daily routines with a witty, analytical eye. Dien Berziga grounds us in the physical reality of the present, translating the shifting aesthetics of the digital age onto his work.
Co-curated by Rodrigo Chaveiro and Yuki Saiki, and organised by the Art Embassy Network (ArtEN) in partnership with ArtSticker, this exhibition serves as a crucial bridge to the UK art scene. We invite you to look at the London of today through the 'window' of this exhibition, presenting the works of international artists. What message do the lives and personal stories of people coexisting in this global city communicate to us here?
