Maho Haruna

We are pleased to present "Step", a solo exhibition of Maho Haruna. Haruna graduated from Tohoku University of Art & Design's painting course in March 2023 and is currently based in Okayama, Japan. The abstract paintings created by Haruna are said to depict air. However, since air is invisible to the eye, she borrows the form of a concrete object. That is what she calls a hole. Her honest approach to painting, she points out, makes her feel, in the words of her former teacher, "as if I were standing in front of an art student from half a century ago."
